The Marketing Strategy & Planning Team Okta's Marketing Strategy & Planning function is a critical engine driving the strategic direction, operational rigor, and investment optimization of the global Marketing organization. We are responsible for shaping marketing strategy, orchestrating the planning lifecycle, maximizing performance, and delivering significant return on investment to achieve Okta's ambitious company objectives. The Director, Marketing Strategy & Planning Global Demand Generation Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Strategy, Planning & Operations, this pivotal leadership role will help establish and champion Okta's Global Demand Generation strategy and the overarching planning framework. You will lead and develop a team of global strategy and planning professionals, and partner extensively with senior Marketing and Go-to-Market (GTM) leadership to forge a cohesive set of strategic priorities, a robust growth strategy, and an effective operational plan. You will be instrumental in ensuring our Global Demand Generation strategy is tightly aligned with company objectives, fostering operational excellence, and driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. As a trusted strategic advisor, you will act as a key interface between Demand Generation Marketing and the broader GTM ecosystem, including Sales Leadership, GTM Strategy & Planning, and Finance, ensuring seamless collaboration and shared understanding. What you'll be doing * Lead and own the global annual and quarterly Marketing planning process for Demand Generation Marketing, driving collaboration across the Global Demand Generation leadership team and with key stakeholders in Sales, GTM Strategy & Planning, and Finance. Leverage deep functional expertise and market insights to shape strategic direction and rigorously validate alignment with company objectives, ensuring optimal return on investment for all marketing initiatives. * Direct the strategic prioritization of marketing investments, facilitating alignment among budget owners on critical trade-off decisions. Establish and evolve a sophisticated investment framework to quantitatively assess business outcomes, guide resource allocation, and ensure strategic prioritization across the global marketing portfolio. * Oversee and elevate the global Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process for Demand Generation Marketing, leading your team to synthesize comprehensive performance insights in close partnership with the Marketing Analytics function. Present key findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership. * Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making across the Global Demand Generation Marketing organization. Lead your team to regularly deliver deeply analytical insights on marketing performance to stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, and GTM Strategy & Planning, fostering strong cross-functional alignment. Proactively identify strategic opportunities and guide the prioritization of impactful initiatives to accelerate business growth. * Serve as a highly trusted strategic advisor to senior leaders, providing expert counsel and recommendations on strategic direction, operational improvements, and initiatives to enhance effectiveness and efficiency across global marketing teams. * Lead and champion complex, critical, cross-functional, global strategic initiatives from inception through successful execution. Effectively navigate organizational complexities, build strong relationships across teams, and ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and resource allocation. * Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of marketing strategy and planning professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. * Collaborate closely with the Marketing Analytics leadership to ensure the development of robust and insightful reporting capabilities that meet the evolving strategic needs of the global Marketing organization. What you'll bring to the role * 10+ years of progressive and impactful experience in Marketing Strategy & Planning, Strategic Analytics, or a similar leadership role within a high-growth B2B SaaS company, with demonstrable experience leading strategic planning cycles and influencing senior leadership. * 8+ years of proven experience in strategically managing and optimizing significant global Marketing budgets and resource allocation, with a deep understanding of financial planning principles and ROI analysis. * Deep and demonstrable understanding of the critical drivers of SaaS business and marketing strategy, including advanced knowledge of pipeline and revenue analytics, investment ratios, full-funnel metrics, and the underlying marketing technology foundation. * Extensive and proven experience in developing and driving holistic global Marketing strategies that have demonstrably contributed to significant business growth and achieving company objectives within a complex, global environment. * Exceptional strategic and structured thinking capabilities, with a proven ability to dissect complex problems, develop clear frameworks, and drive insightful, data-backed solutions. * Demonstrated mastery in collaborating effectively with and influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams across geographically distributed organizations, building strong relationships and achieving alignment on strategic priorities. * Outstanding executive-level written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the proven ability to articulate complex strategic concepts and analytical findings clearly, concisely, and persuasively to diverse audiences, including executive leadership. * Proven experience in building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. * BS/BA or equivalent required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. #Ll-GM, #Ll-Hybrid The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $206,000-$309,000 USD Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
