The Director of Business Development is a critical leadership role responsible for driving growth across key services including LTL, full truckload, international freight forwarding, and customs brokerage. The ideal candidate will possess strong account management expertise, a hunter's mentality for new customer acquisition, and the ability to lead complex sales cycles in a matrixed organization.
This role requires a deep understanding of transportation and logistics operations, with P&L awareness to support commercially sound decisions.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ **Customer Acquisition & Growth**
+ Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across temperature-controlled logistics services
+ Develop customized value propositions that align with customer needs and operational capabilities.
+ **Account Management**
+ Nurture and grow strategic accounts through a consultative selling approach and cross-functional collaboration.
+ Serve as the voice of the customer internally, ensuring exceptional service and account satisfaction.
+ **Strategic Sales Leadership**
+ Lead high-impact sales initiatives to penetrate new markets and verticals.
+ Partner with operations and finance to develop pricing strategies that align with business objectives and margin targets.
+ **Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership**
+ Collaborate with operations, customer service, and marketing teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.
+ Support implementation of new accounts with an eye toward service excellence and efficiency.
+ **Market Intelligence & Innovation**
+ Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity.
+ Propose and implement innovative approaches to customer engagement and solution design.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)**
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
+ 5+ years sales/business development experience in logistics, with a focus on temperature-controlled transport preferred.
+ 7 years progressive senior level management and leadership experience in a warehouse and sales management environment
+ Proven track record of growing accounts and acquiring new customers within LTL, truckload, consolidation, and freight forwarding services.
+ Strong operational understanding of transportation and customs brokerage services.
+ P&L literacy and ability to develop commercially viable strategies.
+ Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
+ Strategic thinker with a bold, proactive approach to problem-solving.
+ A servant leader who builds trust and promotes a collaborative, empowered culture.
+ Ability to travel up to 50%
