Position Overview
We are seeking a Director, Audience Development to lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of our digital marketing initiatives, driving audience acquisition, engagement, and revenue growth. This senior-level role will oversee paid media, email, and SMS marketing, with a focus on scaling our digital audience across platforms like YouTube, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, Outbrain, Taboola, Twitter/X, Google Ads, and other traffic acquisition channels. It will also lead outreach to build our Creator Network, with the goal of expanding our audience.
Key Responsibilities
Paid Media & Audience Growth
- Oversee paid media buying and optimization across YouTube Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, Google Ads, Outbrain, Taboola, Twitter/X, and other performance channels.
- Develop and execute acquisition campaigns that drive traffic, video views, and revenue growth.
- Continuously A/B test ad creatives, landing pages, and audience segments to improve performance.
- Implement and refine retargeting and lookalike audience strategies to maximize reach and conversion.
- Identify and experiment with new advertising channels, formats, and emerging platforms to stay ahead of industry trends.
- Reach out to YouTubers, Podcasters, and Publishers to join our Creator Network to increase total audience size
- Stay ahead of digital marketing trends, algorithm updates, and best practices to ensure we remain an industry leader in performance marketing.
Email & SMS Marketing
- Lead the email and SMS marketing strategy, ensuring personalized, data-driven campaigns to drive retention and engagement.
- Oversee audience segmentation, automation, and testing strategies to optimize performance.
- Work closely with programming and editorial teams to align messaging and cadence with audience behaviors.
- Plan, create, and manage email marketing campaigns, including newsletters, promotional campaigns, audience re-engagement efforts, and event invitations.
- Optimize email design, copy, and call-to-actions (CTAs) to improve open rates, click-through rates (CTR), and conversion rates.
Data, Analytics & Optimization
- Use Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, YouTube Analytics, TikTok Ads Manager, and other analytics tools to measure performance and make data-driven decisions.
- Define and track core KPIs, including CTR, CPC, ROAS, CPA, audience retention, and engagement metrics.
- Develop and deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports to senior leadership, providing insights and strategic recommendations.
- Work with the data team to refine attribution models, conversion tracking, and audience segmentation strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in performance marketing, audience development, or digital growth within the media, entertainment, or digital content industry.
- 3+ years of experience managing people, with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop marketing professionals.
- Expert in paid media buying and optimization across YouTube, Meta, TikTok, Google Ads, Outbrain, Taboola, Twitter/X, and other DSPs.
- Strong understanding of email/SMS marketing, conversion rate optimization (CRO), and audience segmentation.
- Hands-on experience with Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics
- Current hands-on-keyboard experience with the various ads management platforms
- Proven track record of successfully scaling digital audiences, reducing acquisition costs, and increasing retention.
- Deep knowledge of A/B testing, growth hacking techniques, and media buying best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and optimize marketing strategies.
- Passion for Hip Hop, youth culture, and the digital media landscape.
