The Digital Marketing team is recruiting a Digital Communications Marketing Manager to be at the forefront of our global growth! Based at Head Office in Leicestershire, offering a competitive salary alongside great benefits! This is a 9 - 12 month FTC (maternity cover).

The Digital Marketing team at NEXT play a key role in driving growth for the business. They combine data-driven insights with creative thinking to run high-impact campaigns across channels like paid search, social media, email and SEO. It's a hands-on, fast-moving team where testing, learning and optimising are part of the everyday approach. They're focused on reaching the right customers, boosting performance and constantly finding smarter ways to grow online.
The role
As the Digital Communications Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our email marketing strategy across the entire customer life-cycle. You will lead and mentor a team of 9 dedicated email marketing experts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. This is a key role within the Digital Marketing team where your strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership skills will directly contribute to our marketing success and overall business objectives.
What else is involved?
- Develop and implement a comprehensive email marketing strategy aligned with our overall marketing and business goals. Identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation across all email programmes.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 9 email marketing specialists. Foster their professional growth and set clear objectives.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and optimisation of a wide range of email campaigns, including complex triggered campaigns across both the UK and our International markets
- Working with the data science team, to drive the development and implementation of audience segmentation strategies to deliver highly personalised and relevant email communication across all markets.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor campaign performance, analyse results, and provide actionable insights to optimise future campaigns and improve overall email effectiveness.
- Oversee the management and optimisation of our Bloomreach email marketing platform, & the other supplementary technologies such as Validity. Managing the platform within the agreed budget Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Work closely with other marketing & eCommerce teams (e.g.Push, Digital Media,Marketing planning, Services ) and trading teams to ensure cohesive and integrated marketing efforts.
- Effectively communicate email marketing performance and strategies to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure all email marketing activities comply with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, PECR) and maintain high email deliverability rates.
- Manage the email marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal ROI.

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on email marketing experience, with a clear progression in responsibility.
- Proven ability to lead and support a team, managing workloads and developing talent.
- Strong understanding of email strategy, best practices, trends, and performance metrics.
- Comfortable analysing data to optimise campaigns and drive measurable results.
- Practical experience with a leading email platform - ideally Bloomreach or similar.
- Skilled in segmentation, personalisation, and automation to improve engagement and conversion.
- Solid knowledge of deliverability, GDPR, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence presenting ideas and insights to various stakeholders.
- A results-focused mindset and drive to continuously test, learn, and improve.
- Good grasp of retail eCommerce operations and how email supports wider business goals.
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating cross-functional collaboration.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach and strong ownership of tasks and outcomes.
