Akkodis is seeking a Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer for a job with our automotive client in Dearborn, MI. We are looking for someone with 3+ years of experience in Powertrain calibration with vehicle and/or dyno testing in Diesel/Fuel Emission/NVH background.
Rate Range: $35/hr to $38/Hr. (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)
Role: Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI (Onsite)
Position Description:
This Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer position involves evaluating, assessing, testing, & optimizing vehicle attributes. -Modify vehicle and powertrain calibrations to meet attributes including emissions, drivability, performance, diagnostics, fuel economy, and NVH. This can be on vehicles and/or in engine dynamometer test cells -Perform data analysis and regress model calibrations with large data sets & communicate conclusions -Interface with software algorithm suppliers (internal and external) to evaluate new features prior to development process -Calibrate and sign-off features for future model year Diesel programs -Document progress and methods used to calibrate & validate features within assigned responsibility -Use models and simulation to reduce testing and optimize powertrain calibrations -Manage calibration parameter databases & ensure error-free production releases -Position may require travel to remote development locations (Arizona/Canada/Colorado/Florida) for vehicle testing – approximately 2 weeks per trip and 3 trips per year.
Skills Required:
-Strong problem-solving skills to drive resolution to sophisticated issues - Excellent data analysis capabilities, including statistical knowledge -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Team player who excels in collaborative, cross-functional environments -Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks -Valid Driver’s license required
Skills Preferred:
- Proficient with Matlab and Calibration Tools including ETAS and/or ATI - Strong fundamental knowledge of engine and vehicle operation - Demonstrated ability to create or invent solutions to new or changing requirements - Ability to read and understand powertrain control strategies (C-code & model-based)
Experience Required:
-3+ years of experience in powertrain calibration with vehicle and/or dyno testing
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BSAE, BSE Computer Science, BS Computer Engineering)
Education Preferred:
Master of Science in Engineering; Electrical, Mechanical, or similar
