Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) plays an integral role in the success of Michigan Medicine (MM) by providing clinicians, educators, researchers, students, and staff with exceptional technology-related information, products, services, and support. HITS also provides institutional expertise related to IT strategy, security, infrastructure, and resource management.

The HITS Academic IT division (AcadIT) serves the education and research communities at the University of Michigan Medical School. We engage faculty, students, and staff to provide a holistic portfolio of software, applications, infrastructure, device support, and custom projects to enable innovation and excellence.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced manager for the DevOps team within the AcadIT division. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a people-focused leader to shape and drive the strategic direction of application environment services in support of MM's world-class education, research, and clinical missions. The purpose of the DevOps team is to improve MM's ability to develop, deploy, and manage applications in an efficient, secure, and reliable way. We leverage automation and DevOps culture to deliver secure application environments and developer productivity tools at scale. Members of this group act as a force multiplier for the organization by leveraging cloud capabilities and influencing changes to our on-premises infrastructure.
Responsibilities*
* Lead and develop a team of DevOps professionals through effective goal setting, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
* Champion a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
* Define and execute the DevOps strategy, ensuring alignment with the broader organizational direction, and creating a roadmap for successful implementation.
* Proactively identify and lead initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the DevOps service.
* Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, resilient cloud and hybrid developer environments.
* Partner with stakeholders across the organization to ensure solutions are aligned with broader institutional priorities.
* Work closely with the Information Assurance team to strengthen cybersecurity practices and simplify onboarding for application teams.
* Develop relationships across the University of Michigan's broader IT community to leverage institutional knowledge and resources.
Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor's degree
* 7 years of professional experience including at least 2 years of IT related experience
* 5 years in a managerial/supervisory or team lead role overseeing 5 or more direct reports

* Experience leading or working as a member of a DevOps team.
* Experience working with teams that align with DevOps principles.
