Our Customer is a corporation that develops, manufactures, and markets robotic products designed to improve clinical outcomes of patients through minimally invasive surgery. Founded in 1995, their goal was to create innovative, robotic-assisted systems that help empower doctors and hospitals to make surgery less invasive than an open approach. Working with the top medical professionals, they continue to develop new, minimally invasive surgical platforms and future diagnostic tools to help solve complex healthcare challenges around the world.

Our Customer is seeking a highly skilled contract Senior Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, deploy, and manage physical and virtual infrastructure using Dell servers, NetApp storage arrays, Nutanix clusters, and VMware vSphere.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and hardware and software components patching.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Systems Reliability And Performance

  • Develop and implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure high infrastructure availability and performance.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of systems to improve efficiency and reduce latency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues, including hardware failures, network problems, and virtualization issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.

Automation And Orchestration

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management.
  • Utilize infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to automate infrastructure deployments and configurations.

Collaboration And Communication

  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components.
  • Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding infrastructure status, issues, and resolutions.
  • Work with vendors for support and problem resolution.

Security And Compliance

  • Implement and maintain security best practices for infrastructure platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant company standards.
  • Work with the cyber security team to remediate 0-day issues, etc.
