DataOps Engineer

Location: Remote - Portugal

Ovyo is an professional services company specializing in the satellite, telecommunications, media, and broadcasting, transportation and many more sectors. Our management team is located in the UK and Portugal and we have technical teams based across Europe and India.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to incidents: analyze, reproduce, apply fixes, and communicate with users
• Perform root cause analysis and document postmortems
• Proactively monitor data pipelines and infrastructure to identify and solve issues
• Adapt configurations and environments to maintain stable and continuous operations
• Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and efficiency standards
• Monitor and optimize costs and performance of jobs, queries, and resources
• Notify and guide users about inefficient practices
• Use dashboards to track cost and execution time
• Manage infrastructure with Terraform and GitLab (CI/CD)
• Promote best practices and decommission obsolete resources
• Work closely with Data Architects in deployment planning and reviews
• Support Data Engineers throughout the entire deployment lifecycle
• Ensure logging, monitoring, and observability strategies are in place

Required Experience:

• GCP: Hands-on experience with Composer (Airflow), BigQuery, Dataflow, Storage, IAM, Cloud Functions, Compute Engine
• 2+ years of experience with Apache Airflow (Composer)
• BigQuery: 4+ years of experience with modeling, optimization, and architecture
• Terraform and GitLab: 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Azure: AKS, ADLS Gen2, Databricks (Unity Catalog)
• Knowledge of Pub/Sub, Kafka, optimized GCS usage
• Experience with Apache Spark / PySpark.
