The Opportunity:

DevOps Engineer 3 is responsible for writing automation scripts and developing CI / CD pipelines for a wide range of applications and projects at Symcor. This includes designing, building, and maintaining automated processes, providing education to development teams, and offering release support. The role will actively integrate DevSecOps and AI DevOps practices to optimize workflows and ensure secure, scalable deployments.

This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.

About The Role:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure fast and reliable software delivery.
  • Integrate security practices into the CI/CD pipeline, including automated code scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance checks. Ensure secure coding practices and manage threat detection.
  • Design and implement automated deployment pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and configuration management using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Work with the business to understand their application needs and support them to design a solution to deliver the application to the customer as quickly as possible with all Symcor policies in place
  • Integrate AI-driven automation (e.g., anomaly detection, predictive maintenance) into DevOps workflows to optimize processes, enhance security monitoring, and improve decision-making.
  • Work closely with software development, AI, and security teams to ensure smooth integration of security, AI models, and application features within the overall pipeline.
  • Responsible for debugging technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, microservices, etc.
  • Ensure the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and AI systems meet industry-specific regulatory compliance standards and manage risk mitigation through proactive security and monitoring practices.
  • Help development teams understand which architecture solution will work best for their code base and application style
  • Create educational materials and examples around git flow, automation, and SDLC practices
  • Work on operational tasks to keep pipelines and automations up to date and fully working
  • Continually strive to improve quality, introduce automation and/or lower costs through development practices. Recommend changes to established methods and procedures, suggests alternative solutions, automation and new methods to improve quality and increase productivity
  • Provide input into cross discipline committees for enhancing or creating new processes, automation or tools to improve delivery across the SDLC.

What You Need to Succeed:

Education:

  • 4-year degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar)

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, with a strong focus on automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Expertise in GitLab, including setting up, maintaining CI/CD pipelines and templates, with hands-on experience using Jfrog Artifactory, SonarQube, and various AI-specific tools for code quality checks and security scans.
  • Proficient in Ansible and Terraform, utilizing these tools to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automate infrastructure provisioning, streamline application deployment.
  • Experience in deploying and managing containerized applications on Red Hat OpenShift and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), with proficiency in using Argo CD for continuous delivery and GitOps workflows.
  • Strong background in security automation, ensuring secure code deployment by incorporating security scans into CI/CD pipelines and adhering to DevSecOps principles.

Skill Requirements

  • Expertise in building, designing, and maintaining cloud-based applications using cloud platforms Azure or AWS.
  • Proven ability to create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and/or GitHub Actions to automate deployment processes.
  • Strong knowledge of managing source code repositories using platforms like GitLab and/or GitHub to ensure version control and collaboration.
  • Proficient in Python, Java, and shell scripting, with a focus on automating tasks and improving system efficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying technical concepts clearly.
  • A problem-solver with a keen eye for detail, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of technical issues and obstacles.
