Position Highlights

The Development Program Manager is responsible for enhancing and supporting the various aspects of the Development department for the Council on Aging - Southern California (COASC).

The Development Program Manager plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Council on Aging – Southern California by overseeing key fundraising initiatives, special events, and donor engagement programs. This person will work with the Director of Development and Community Outreach to accomplish the key activities of COASC including growing agency awareness, and increasing financial support from individuals, corporate donors and sponsorships. They will also manage the Development Database Associate, ensuring efficient and accurate donor data management, while leading efforts to engage donors, sponsors, and community partners.

JOB FUNCTIONS (Include But Not Limited To)

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise and support the Development Database Associate, providing guidance on database maintenance, gift processing, and reporting.
  • Work with the Director of Development and Community Outreach to foster a collaborative, results-oriented work environment within the development team.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Plan and implement fundraising campaigns aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners to maximize engagement and financial support.
  • Oversee donor/committee recognition programs, ensuring timely and meaningful acknowledgments.

Special Event Coordination

  • Lead the planning and execution of special events, including the annual Evening of Comedy gala, Pickleball Slam, and other community engagement activities.
  • Manage event logistics, budgets, sponsorships, and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and outreach strategies for events.

Program Management

  • Support the SmileMakers Program Manager, ensuring goals are met and program impact is maximized.
  • Track program metrics and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Collaborate with the Development Database Associate to ensure accurate donor data entry, reporting, and analysis.
  • Use donor data insights to inform fundraising strategies and donor engagement efforts.

Communications & Outreach

  • Develop donor correspondence, and program updates to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Partner with the Marketing Manager to create digital and print content promoting development initiatives.
  • Other duties assigned by the Director of Development and Community Outreach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience working in a fast-paced nonprofit environment
  • Passion for seniors
  • Excellent oral, written, financial and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Fundraising Tools preferred i.e. eTapestry, Razors Edge , GreaterGiving etc.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the COASC mission to internal and external audiences
  • Ability to establish and help foster a positive environment, two-way communication, and strong trust amongst colleagues
  • Focus on teamwork and providing the highest level of donor service
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
