Reports To: Vice President of Development, Developmental Disability Services
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid)
Position Summary
Heartshare Human Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Development Intern to support our fundraising efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of nonprofit development, working closely with the Vice President of Development and the Vice President of Special Events. The intern will assist with donor relations, event planning, research, and administrative tasks, contributing to the overall success of HeartShare's fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Relations Support:
Conduct research on prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
Support the team in donor outreach and cultivation activities.
Assist with grant proposal preparation and submission.
Assist in maintaining and updating donor records in the CRM database (e.g., Blackbaud).
Help prepare donor correspondence, including acknowledgment letters and stewardship reports.
Assist with general administrative tasks, including data entry and phone support.
Special Events Assistance:
Provide support in the planning and execution of fundraising events, including galas, golf outings, and other initiatives.
Assist with event logistics, such as vendor coordination and guest list management.
Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer activities related to events.
Cross-Functional Support:
Work directly with the Vice President of Development, Vice President of Special Events, and the Coordinator of Special Events on assigned tasks.
Collaborate with the development team on special projects as assigned.
Attend team meetings and contribute to the development of fundraising strategies.
Gain exposure to all facets of the Development department.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Strong interest in nonprofit fundraising and development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Experience with CRM databases (e.g., Blackbaud) is a plus.
Bachelor's degree (or working towards one) in a related field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications) preferred.
