The Ambulatory Support Technician is responsible for resulting outpatient chart documents from all SLUHN practices into the Epic medical record according to department policies and procedures
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for creating orders, resulting tests/procedures and attaching documents from offices and incoming faxes to the patient medical record.
Responsible for updating Health Maintenance and Value Based data as appropriate.
Working in a third party system to validate potential duplicates and completing error resolution process to enable documents to be sorted to the medical record, and additional workbaskets as needed.
Responsible for notifying physician offices of Prothrombin Time Test and INR results and responding to daily calls from offices regarding high priority resulting.
Responsible for meeting department quality standards for resulting, 95% accuracy rate as well as a minimum of 50 results daily.
Responsible for meeting department standard of 24 hour TAT.
Responsible for maintaining productivity data sheet daily.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. May require occasional standing/walking for up to 1 hour per day, 30 minutes at a time. Frequently uses fingers for data entry. Frequent use of hands and fingers as it relates to holding patient records. Uses upper extremities to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds. Hearing as it relates to normal hearing. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony. May require stooping, bending and/or reaching above shoulder level.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate with medical terminology knowledge preferred. Work experience in a medical record or medical office environment with appropriate knowledge base including laboratory results highly considered.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year in the field.
