What's the Role?
Responsibilities:
* Lead Desktop Engineering Operations Across The Enterprise
* Direct and mentor a team of desktop engineers responsible for architecting, maintaining, and evolving the enterprise-wide macOS and Windows desktop environments. Ensure consistent application of technical standards across business units and global office locations.
* Standard Image Development and Configuration Management
* Design and maintain enterprise-standard desktop and laptop images for Windows and macOS platforms. Leverage configuration management tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune/SCCM), Jamf Pro, or similar solutions to enforce compliance and ensure uniformity.
* Enterprise Software Lifecycle Management
* Oversee the end-to-end software lifecycle: packaging, deployment, updates, and patch management. Utilize automation tools to deploy applications, operating system updates, and security patches efficiently, ensuring minimum user disruption.
* Enterprise Security and Compliance Enforcement
* Implement and manage endpoint security controls in coordination with information security teams, including antivirus, disk encryption, vulnerability patching, and incident response support. Maintain compliance with regulatory standards as required.
* Cross Functional Collaboration and Governance
* Act as a liaison between Desktop Engineering and IT operations, SOC, IAM, TechSquad, Procurement, and other internal teams to align desktop initiatives with business objectives. Ensure clear communication and shared accountability during deployments and major changes.
* Scalability and Innovation in Desktop Services
* Drive automation, self-service capabilities, and endpoint management strategies that reduce overhead and improve user experience at scale. Assess and recommend technologies that support hybrid/remote workforces and enhance system performance and availability.
* Team Development and Performance Management
* Provide ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and career development planning for team members. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
* Leadership & Coaching
* Demonstrates the ability to lead high-performing teams in a dynamic, fast-paced enterprise IT setting. Provides clear direction, supports employee growth, and addresses performance concerns with professionalism and care.
* Enterprise-Scale Technical Acumen
* Strong expertise in endpoint management platforms, automation, scripting (PowerShell, Bash), group policy, MDM/UEM, and security practices in a large, complex IT environment.
* Strategic Execution
* Translates business objectives into actionable desktop strategies that scale across thousands of users and devices. Balances long-term planning with day-to-day operational excellence.
* Risk Awareness & Compliance
* Maintains strong awareness of regulatory and cybersecurity standards. Ensures that desktop solutions are compliant, auditable, and well-documented.
* Change Management & Communication
* Skilled in navigating change initiatives, building consensus, and effectively communicating with executive stakeholders and technical staff alike.
* Customer Centric Focus
* Advocates for end-user satisfaction by implementing efficient, secure, and reliable desktop solutions. Monitors performance metrics and feedback to continuously improve services.

Pay Range: $105,000-$110,000annual pay + bonus and/or commissions
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
