The Desktop and Data Center Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the desktop infrastructure. This role requires a blend of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen understanding of the fast-paced trading environment. The Desktop Engineer will ensure that all desktop systems are running smoothly, efficiently, and securely, providing prompt support to traders and other staff.
Key Responsibilities
Server / Desktop Support:
Provide first and second-level support for desktop hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to operating systems (Windows, Linux), applications, and network connectivity.
Respond to and resolve support tickets in a timely manner, ensuring minimaldisruption to trading operations.
System Maintenance and Administration:
Perform regular maintenance and updates on Server / desktop systems, including patch management and software upgrades.
Manage Server / desktop security, including antivirus updates, endpoint protection, and compliance with security policies.
Monitor and optimize Server /desktop performance, identifying and addressing potential bottlenecks or issues.
Deployment and Configuration:
Install, configure, and deploy desktop systems and applications for new andexisting users.
Maintain and manage desktop images and deployment tools.
Configure and manage user profiles, access rights, and group policies.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with network and server teams to ensure seamless integration of desktop systems with backend infrastructure.
Communicate effectively with traders and other staff to understand their technical needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Document technical procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Project Involvement:
Participate in IT projects related to desktop infrastructure, including hardware refreshes, software rollouts, and system migrations.
Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies that can enhance desktop performance and user experience.
Required Skill
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in desktop support, preferably within a financial services or trading environment.
Proficiency in Windows, and Linux operating systems.
Strong knowledge of desktop hardware, networking concepts, and common enterprise applications.
Familiarity with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
Desired Skill
Experience with high-frequency trading firms or a similar fast-paced environment is highly desirable.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Timings: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Monday to Saturday).
