Job Description
We are looking for a Designer who will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs and product configurators
You will work closely custom Engineering/Product Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers
The Designer will support the team focused on Sustaining Custom Order Entry and will also originate, develop, or modify product designs and configurator documentation, from released phase to custom special configurations assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and accuracy
In addition, designers will contribute to problem solving through analyzing data on flowchart logic for product configurators
What You Will Do
Data Management, work with legacy programs and proprietary software to manage automated design software and its output data
Design custom HVAC solutions within configurator and engineering frameworks per guidelines
Excel work
Process design
Automated systems consultation and design new workflows
Create design instructions
Provide manufacturing parts files, help troubleshoot factory and automation issues
Create and review engineering documentation including Solidworks models, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to client’s standards
Translate and revise working 3D layouts, detailed documentation, Bill of Materials (BOM) and configurator data
Work with Custom Engineering/Product Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to provide accurate documentation and BOMs for original designs or custom modifications of current products
Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with critical thinking and reasoning skills
Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and problem-solving skills through incorporation into design and configurator work
Provide accurate estimates of tasks and execute to your estimate. Work with product engineers and manufacturing services to execute and deliver production documentation packages
Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and client products
Demonstrate an understanding of all current and legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
Be part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teams
Travel to local manufacturing sites for training and to review and become informed online issues
Minimum Qualifications
Vocational, Technical, or Associate of Applied Science degree in design/drafting or similar field
3+ years of related design experience
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Professional work experience with manufacturing practices and processes and product configurations, including basic logic for product or design selection
Professional experience using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools
Understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
5+ years of related design experience
