Horizon, based in Palmerston North is recruiting for a Design Engineer.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Design Engineer Team Leader, you will be responsible to assist the Design Estimators, Project Managers and Managers with the following:
- Power system studies.
- Design of capital network and external projects.
- Managing customer connection and approval process; and
- Regulatory analysis.
To be successful a candidate will require the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering recognised by IPENZ
- Current Unrestricted Manual NZ Drivers Licence
- Up to 5 years' experience in Power Distribution industry, including underground design an advantage, but not necessary
- Familiar with load flow simulation software e.g. DIgSilent Power Factory, Overhead Line Design software e.g.COLDNEt, Neara.
- Advanced Mathematical skills
- Advanced Excel and Word skills with some exposure to databases
- Project management and experience
- High degree of initiative
- Ability to relate to staff/customers and Management
- Able to make decisions
- Self-motivated and results focussed
- Ability to think ‘outside the square'
