Summary

A leading energy company is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Derivatives Analyst to join its finance team. The position will support derivative accounting operations and play a key role in financial reporting, technical accounting, and policy development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily derivative accounting activities, including journal entries and month-end close processes
  • Collaborate regularly with the Manager of Derivatives & Technical Accounting and cross-functional teams (Risk & Pricing, Supply & Marketing) to ensure accurate identification, accounting, and treatment of derivative transactions under applicable accounting standards
  • Prepare internal reports and analysis for both routine and ad hoc reporting needs, supporting earnings estimates, financial statements, and investor communications
  • Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of derivative accounting policies and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures
  • Support external reporting requirements including quarterly/annual disclosures related to derivatives


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 4–5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in derivatives (energy, commodities, or financial markets)
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles; knowledge of hedge accounting is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with ETRM systems or accounting software a plus
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
