Giving back allows us to improve public spaces where people connect, promote public safety and advance access to education and technology Position Summary The Deployment Operations Technician within the Infrastructure Engineering+ Technology organization supports the Innovation Operations Manager in evaluating and improving network deployment solutions at Crown Castle. Essential Job Functions * Operate construction tools and equipment: (Example: Concrete Saws, Core Drills, Vacuums, Skid Steers, Forklifts, etc.) * Conduct work in a safe manner, perform daily site and equipment safety checks. * Set up, perform, and break down daily trial plans according to established engineering plans. * Read and interpret engineering designs and understand construction drawings. * Document onsite trial conditions and daily project activity as well as maintain electronic records of work completed on various assignments. * Placement and configuration of aerial and underground fiber cables, splice enclosures, and perform fusion splicing of loose tube and ribbon fiber cables. * Perform testing of RF and fiber test equipment, such as PIM analyzer, Antenna analyzer, RF power meter, Spectrum analyzer, Signal generator, OTDR, Fusion splicer, Optic power meter, DMM, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, BER Test Sets, Sniffers. * Perform both hardware and software updates and/or changes to trial site equipment as necessary. * First line acceptance of all new and modified networks using the Network Handoff Process. * Install, turn-up, Test and Provision, WDM and Ethernet equipment in an optical fiber network adhering to engineered design. * Maintain a clean and safe working environment, assist in keeping tools in clean and working order. * Assist with set up and take down of portable experiments loading/unloading deliveries and in keeping job sites clean and organized. * Interface with customers and carriers in support of service delivery and assurance. Education/Certifications * High School diploma or equivalent. * Associates Degree/some college preferred. * A valid driver license required. * Military or technical school training in telecommunications, electronics, and AC/DC power systems preferred. Experience/Minimum Requirements * 3+ years experience with outside plant construction * Performing installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and networks * Testing and delivering high-speed telecommunications services * Operating a variety of telecommunications test and construction equipment (Example: Concrete Saws, Core Drills, Vacuums, Skid Steers, Forklifts, etc.) * Knowledge of telecommunications/wireless construction or civil construction * Knowledge of Public and Private right-of-way project deployment * Ability to understand basic construction processes * Knowledge of small cell and fiber optic deployment methods and best practices * On call required for emergency support on a 24-hour X 7-day basis. Other Skills/Abilities * Can work independently for extended periods of time with minimal guidance as well as part of a team while managing time for maximum efficiency. * Operate in a fast-paced customer focused environment handling multiple priorities at a time, delivering quality service to diverse user groups and customers. Organizational Relationship Reports to: Operations Deployment Lead Working Conditions: Works onsite 5 days per week at our Austin, TX facility. Exposure to RF emissions, construction materials, noise, and wastes. Physical demands of lifting, stooping, standing for extended periods, getting in/out of misc. equipment, and climbing ladders in adverse weather and heat. Travel required up to 30% of the time to include overnight trips. Compensation The pay range offered for this position is $28.19 - $40.52 per hour. A candidate's offer is determined by various factors including but not limited to, depth of experience, role-related knowledge and skills, relevant education or training, internal alignment, and work location. Depending on the position offered, the compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of a discretionary annual cash bonus or commissions, and equity incentives.
