George Fox University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Education. This is a combined faculty and administrative appointment with a 24-credit hour load spread over an 11-month work period. About the Job:
The College of Education prepares professionals who Think Critically, Transform Practice and Promote Justice through seeking Multiple Perspectives, using Courage, and acting with Integrity. The COE is comprised of multiple units including:
* Preservice teacher preparation programs (Bachelor of Science in Education: Undergraduate Teacher Education and Accelerated Teaching Degree, Master of Arts in Special Education, and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees)
* Graduate programs for in-service teachers, including Master, Education Specialist and Doctor of Education degrees in educational leadership, Principal and Professional school administrator license programs, and teacher endorsement programs.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer for the College of Education and is responsible for the following:
* Ensuring the effective operation of the College in support of the mission and goals of the College & University.
* Working with faculty, staff, students, university constituents, and P-12 educators to promote excellence in teaching, scholarship, and community learning.
* Serving as an innovative and dynamic advocate for the College and its programs among diverse groups of education and community leaders, government, and with the general public.
* Representing the interests of the College in statewide meetings with deans and directors of Education Preparation Providers and a willingness and ability to lead state and national professional organizations.
* Providing leadership to maintain professional accreditations.
* Serving as an engaged member of University leadership teams.
* Managing the College's budgets, fiscal planning, and grant writing/implementation efforts.
* Promoting the scholarly initiatives of the College.
* Recruiting, supervising, developing, and evaluating faculty and staff.
* Articulating the importance of integrating faith and learning to all constituencies.
* Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
* By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
* Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
* Other duties as assigned.

* An earned doctorate appropriate to a College of Education and credentials suitable for a faculty appointment, with a record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, leadership, and service.
* Successful higher education and P-12 leadership experience.
* An ability to create and implement a shared vision with faculty.
* An ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a Christian environment, with a commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
* Appreciation of diversity and the ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, administrators, and students, including all P-12 school partners.
* Commitment to public and private P-12 education preparation initiatives.
* Commitment to professional development of faculty and staff.
* Strong communication skills.
* A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
* A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.

Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:
* Administrative leadership experience, including program planning, budget management, with supervision and collegial leadership of professionals at the undergraduate and graduate levels is recognized.
* Successful work in P-12 school settings as an administrator.
