First Shift Crane Operator

Charter Manufacturing Niles Iron and Metal Company facility is currently looking to fill our 1st-Shift Crane Operator position. Crane operators load scrap metal into shearing and bailing machines and load and unload trucks and railcars as needed.

• Hourly Pay - $21.25/hr
• Shift -This is a First Shift job, (5am-4pm Monday-Friday and 5am-12pm Saturdays)

POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

Load scrap metal into shearing and bailing machines. Load and unload trucks and railcars as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Constant sitting
• Occasional push/pull
• Minimal standing, walking, climbing, balancing, reaching over 15” away from the body, and reaching above shoulder
• Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database
  
  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to be self-driven
• Proficient in basic math skills.
• Basic communication skills
• Ability to work well with other employees
• Ability to follow and give instructions
• Basic problem-solving skills
• Previous experience operating a mobile crane
  
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of different types of scrap metal
• Certification in Crane use
  
  

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Operate Ecrane or Crawler cranes to load scrap metal into shearing and bailing machines
• Operate Ecrane or Crawler cranes to load and unload trucks and railcars as needed
• Move cranes to different metal and scrap areas of the yard
• Sort out loads and clean out spreads
• Ensure a safe work environment and contribute to a highly engaging culture that fosters safety, continuous improvement, teamwork, and trust
