ASRC Research and Technology Solutions is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Database engineer. This role blends deep network engineering expertise with a data focus to design, implement, and maintain a robust, secure, and data-driven network infrastructure. This position requires a highly motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges. This role is also responsible for critical asset management and reporting functions.
Responsibilities - Data Engineering and Analysis:
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analyzing large network datasets.
- Leverage big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Accumulo) to extract actionable insights from network traffic and performance data.
- Utilize data visualization tools and techniques for reporting and analysis.
- Automation and Scripting:
- Automate network tasks and processes using scripting languages like Python and Bash.
- Develop and maintain scripts for network monitoring, configuration management, and incident response.
- M2M Communication:
- Design and implement Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication solutions to enhance operational efficiency and security, integrating various IoT devices and platforms into the network infrastructure.
- Network Performance Optimization:
- Monitor network performance, identify areas for optimization, and implement solutions to improve bandwidth utilization, reduce latency, and enhance overall network stability.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive network documentation, including operational instructions, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and capacity planning.
- Produce Monthly Metrics charts and complete the Monthly Access Report.
- Technology Evaluation and Recommendation:
- Stay abreast of emerging network and data science technologies. Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance network capabilities and improve data analysis processes.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (software developers, security analysts, business stakeholders). Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work with DISA OCDO.
- Asset Management:
- Configuration Management of network devices.
- Track asset connection and disconnection events.
- Maintain the Verified Production Asset lists.
- Reconcile various inventories and asset lists.
- Track data feeds via the UCSA Data Catalog.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent.
- Experience in network engineering, with demonstrable experience designing and implementing complex network solutions.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing, switching, and network security.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud networking concepts.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash).
- Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Accumulo) and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Experience with network automation tools and platforms.
- Experience with SIEM systems.
- Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE).
