THE ROLE
Responsible for implementing and maintaining reliable, high-performance relational database management systems to support FUJIFILM DMS's core business applications. The role primarily involves working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, with an expectation to either possess or develop proficiency in SQL Server, DB2, and MongoDB. Strong expertise in Oracle & PostgreSQL are essential, while candidates with solid experience in DB2 and/or SQL Server will be highly regarded.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Design and implement databases in alignment with the corporate data model, including the development of associated administrative and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure optimal performance of all databases across the enterprise environment.
- Maintain data availability while implementing appropriate security measures to safeguard information.
- Monitor the performance of enterprise database systems, identifying and addressing issues proactively.
- Conduct capacity planning to ensure timely availability and presentation of required resources, such as storage.
- Identify technical gaps, limitations and propose timely and effective solutions.
- Provide recommendations on the procurement of new database software solutions.
- Assess and define user database requirements, encourage efficient development practices, and reduce data redundancy.
- Evaluate project requests for database services to ensure alignment with the overall database service delivery strategy.
- Implement and monitor database security measures in accordance with organizational policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive backup strategies for all enterprise databases.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCP/DR) plans to ensure compliance with contractual DR Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Participate in a coordinated, roster-based out-of-hours support team for enterprise database systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and activities outside standard business hours as required.
- Contribute to both project-based and business-as-usual (BAU) initiatives under the direction of the technical team lead.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with expert knowledge in Oracle & PostgreSQL Database Administration.
Key Skills
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in Oracle and PostgreSQL database administration within large-scale production environments.
- Advanced expertise in performance tuning, utilizing a comprehensive range of tools and techniques to diagnose and optimize underperforming queries and procedures at both the database and server levels.
- In-depth knowledge of database backup and recovery processes, including the use of Oracle RMAN and IBM TSM technologies.
- Strong understanding of database encryption, high availability architectures, disaster recovery planning, and replication strategies.
- Proficient in database administration for DB2, Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB environments.
- Skilled in database programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, Python and Shell script
- Solid understanding of database security frameworks, including policy implementation, auditing, and compliance.
- Competent in managing databases across both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a methodical approach to root cause analysis and resolution.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage architectures and their integration with database systems
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in a computing discipline.
- 5 years’ experience in similar role.
- Expert knowledge in Oracle & PostgreSQL Database Administration.
- Expert knowledge on Linux Operating system.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server, MongoDB and/or DB2.
- Australian Citizenship as additional AGSVA security clearances will be required.
