Date: Mar 11, 2025 Req ID: 47956 Location: Little Rock, AR, US, 72201 Category: DEPT OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS Anticipated Starting Salary: 80242.24 Position Information Class Code: D001C Grade: IT09 FLSA Status: EXEMPT Salary Range: $80,242.00 - $127,987.00 Summary The State Database Administrator is responsible for implementing and maintaining database systems and monitoring and resolving database problems using hierarchical or relational database management techniques. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Functions Identifies and resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, and other data related issues, and monitors and limits database access as needed. Develops, implements, and maintains database tables, queries, and reports to meet customer requirements. Participates in group meetings to identify business requirements and processes. Designs and implements processes and tools which aid analysis and diagnostics to isolate the source of network, hardware, and/or software malfunctions. Develops, designs, and implements comprehensive database management and/or other technical features and solutions. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and performs maintenance, repair, and upgrade of databases, applications, and other computer systems as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Dimensions May participate in rotating on-call schedule for the agency. Occasional travel, including transportation by air. Valid Arkansas driver's license is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of various computer systems. Knowledge of design of relational database systems, data structures, and logic. Knowledge of technology and new user applications. Ability to design effective database schema. Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal formats. Minimum Qualifications The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and two years of experience. OR Completion of technical training in computer science, data processing, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military or industrial setting, plus 2 years of experience in database support. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
