Position Overview

We are seeking a [highly] skilled Database Administrator with expertise in SQL Server and MySQL, and experience in DevOps practices on AWS. This role is a blend of database management and DevOps responsibilities, designed for a professional who thrives in dynamic environments.


Key Responsibilities

Database Administration:

  • Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server and MySQL databases to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Manage database backups, replication, recovery, and failover strategies.
  • Monitor database performance and perform tuning for optimization.
  • Develop and maintain database security policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to design and review database schemas and queries.

DevOps on AWS:

  • Deploy and manage infrastructure using AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.).
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for database and application deployments.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure and databases using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Automate routine tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Manage version control and collaborate on DevOps workflows using Bitbucket.


Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with SQL Server and MySQL in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including RDS, EC2, S3, and IAM.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and containerization (Docker/ECS is a plus).
  • Proficient in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with database tools like SSMS, MySQL Workbench, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of database compliance and regulatory requirements.


Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

· AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) is a plus.
