Short Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our dynamic technology team. You will be responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of our critical Oracle database systems. This role requires a strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security best practices.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database environments (standalone, RAC, Data Guard).
- Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations.
- Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies and procedures.
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including user management, access control, and auditing.
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient and effective database design and implementation.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical database support.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Oracle database technologies and best practices.
- Manage and administer Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and management.
- Plan and execute database capacity planning.
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience (12+ years) as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and concepts.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
- Hands on experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Solid understanding of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching. How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively
- Hands-on experience with Oracle installation, configuration, and administration.
- Strong Experience with streams replication
- Strong performance tuning skills and experience
- Experience in Shell scripting.
- Experience in migrating from on-premises to cloud based DB's will be an added plus
- Well versed in storage management and storage tuning
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL.
- Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Data Guard is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of backup and recovery tools and methodologies (RMAN).
- Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of database security principles and practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
Preferred:
- Oracle certifications (e.g., OCA, OCP, OCM).
- Experience with other database technologies.
- Experience with cloud-based Oracle services (e.g., OCI).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python).
