Short Description

we are seeking a skilled and dedicated MS SQL Database Administrator to manage and maintain our critical database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and availability of our MS SQL server environments. This role involves proactive monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, security implementation, and collaboration with development and infrastructure teams.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain MS SQL Server instances and databases across various environments (development, testing, production).
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning measures, including query optimization and index management.
  • Implement and enforce database security measures, including user access control, permissions management, and data encryption.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including configuration, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database design and query performance.
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure the underlying server and storage infrastructure supports database requirements.
  • Implement and maintain database replication and high availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, mirroring).
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL).
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest MS SQL Server features, updates, and best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical database issues.

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (6+ Years) as an MS SQL Database Administrator in a production environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server architecture, features, and administration tools.
  • Strong understanding of database principles, relational database design, and normalization.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of database security concepts and implementation.
  • Experience with performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for MS SQL Server.
  • Experience with database upgrades and migrations.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or T-SQL for automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good To Have - Additional Skills

  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics).
  • Experience with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS for SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio, SolarWinds DPA).
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical and Problem-solving skills.
