Job Title DBA manager Job Title: DBA Manager Position type: Permanent Location: Bogotá, Colombia Job family: Platform Engineering As part of the Technology Security, Innovation and Agility organization, this role oversees a team responsible for managing critical database and NoSQL infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across multiple platforms, including Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres, and emerging database technologies. The department supports Amadeus’ core business by maintaining high-availability environments and leading automation initiatives. The Database & Platform Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled professionals, including Oracle DBAs, MariaDB Administrators, and NoSQL SREs. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership capabilities to drive operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high performance, reliability, and security of critical data platforms. This is a hybrid role and would require you to be in our Bogota office 50% of the time. In this role you’ll: Lead and mentor a team of database and NoSQL engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and technical excellence. Develop and execute strategic plans for database infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business goals. Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of database environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, Product, and Architecture) to support business needs and improve operational efficiency. Promote automation and DevOps best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risks. Manage performance tuning and troubleshooting for critical production systems. Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices (e.g., PCIDSS, ITIL, SAFe). Foster a customer-centric mindset, ensuring quick and effective responses to internal and external stakeholders. About the ideal candidate: Basic qualifications and skills: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 7+ years of experience managing database or platform engineering teams in an enterprise environment. Strong expertise in Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Couchbase, or Redis. Understanding of ITIL, SAFe, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Preferred qualifications and skills: Certifications in Oracle, AWS/Azure, ITIL, or SAFe. Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python Experience in high-availability, multi-terabyte databases and large-scale distributed systems. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes-based deployments. Key Skills Proven ability to lead technical teams, drive accountability, and foster a collaborative work environment. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to align database strategies with business objectives.
