What’s the opportunity?
The successful
Data Security Engineer role is to help protect and manage the company’s data by improving how we secure, monitor, and control it across our cloud systems. This includes setting up key data protections like encryption and backups, making sure we follow data rules and policies, and building dashboards to give better visibility into data risks.
Here’s How You’ll Do It
- Administering and optimising Data Security Posture Management system
- Coordinating the implementation of encryption on cloud databases
- Coordinating the implementation of logging on cloud databases
- Coordinating the implementation of backups on cloud databases
- Coordinating the implementation of retention policies on cloud databases
- Coordinating the identification and removal of shadow data
- Implement cloud improvements via terraform
- Build data integrations & dashboards in Looker to support improved security & data privacy visibility
Job requirements
What Will You Bring
- Experience administering databases or data stores (ie. SQL, Redis, S3, etc)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in data security engineering or a related role.
- Familiarity with cloud security in one or more of the following; GCP, Azure or AWS.
- Experience in creating, supporting & auditing data governance controls
- Proficiency in data security posture management
- Knowledge of risk frameworks, controls, risk treatment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
- Knowledge and understanding of data management best practices (DMBOK)
