Job Summary

The overall objective for the Data Security Analyst is to monitor and respond to attempted information/data breaches stemming from external and intentional/unintentional insider risks. As a key member of the Cyber Threat Defense team, the Data Security Analyst will contribute to the design and implementation of preventative data protection controls, work with the team lead, as well as collaborate cross-functionally to refine processes, controls, and runbooks, and triage and investigate data security alerts, conducting investigations when necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Data Security Program Lead and the Cyber Threat Defense team to identify internal and external threats to the security of data, along with internal risks based on any potential weaknesses in business processes and technologies
  • Utilize telemetry from relevant security platforms to monitor and analyze technical indicators related to data security alerts and/or risks
  • Triage data security alerts and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to carry out investigations
  • Create detailed reports on investigations and present findings to Data Security lead and other stakeholders when applicable
  • Assist in process development and improvement to detect and investigate data loss and/or insider threats
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in the extended security organization to understand the threat landscape

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years working within a Data Security, Insider Risk Management, and/or Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent study and certification preferred
  • Prior experience triaging and analyzing data security alerts, including DLP, data security posture management (DSPM), data labeling/classification/encryption and data masking and anonymization techniques
  • Prior experience with DLP, Insider Risk, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms
  • Prior experience working on DLP or Insider Risk programs within the healthcare/life sciences industry
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to appropriately make decisions related to data security alerts
  • Exercises attention to detail to identify potential data security incidents and control gaps
  • Proven analytical and investigatory skills
  • Strong understanding of data protection and data exfiltration techniques, as well as common cybersecurity frameworks, such as MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
  • Proven research skills, including use of open-source intelligence and dark web monitoring platforms
