Position Summary & Responsibilities

The positions (K0245254)
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has a Data Quality Specialist opening in the Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention. The incumbents in these roles will coordinate with the IIS Assistant Manager and data quality staff to track, assign, and prioritize data quality issues identified through modernized data systems and analytics platforms. This position is fully remote, but the incumbent is required to live in the state of Kansas to be in this role.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Leverage KSWebIZ reports, dashboards, and data analytics tools to identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues. Apply independent judgment to compare system data and perform data quality activities, utilizing modern data validation and cleansing methods to ensure accuracy and completeness. Consult updated IIS standards, resources, and reference materials to support modernized data quality activities and ensure compliance with the latest data protocols. Communicate data quality requirements, issues, and improvement recommendations to immunization providers, promoting modernized data quality practices and tools for enhanced accuracy.
Utilize analytical tools to view and analyze system data in order to detect and resolve data quality issues proactively. Develop and maintain data quality report templates for each unique data issue, collaborating with the IIS Assistant Manager and data quality staff to prioritize and track data quality projects, while integrating data modernization strategies and enhancements to augment project outcomes. Design and implement solutions to address specific data quality concerns to improve data integrity and operational efficiency. Identify emerging trends in system data and communicate trends to IIS staff or system users for targeted outreach and improvements. Continuously monitor data trends, system enhancements and system performance to ensure sustained improvements in data quality.
Qualifications
* Education:
* High School, GED
* Licensing & Certification:
* Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
* Minimum Qualifications:
* Two years of experience using best practices and tools to analyze and measure data quality and develop action plans to ensure data reliability, completeness, and consistency. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
* Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to quickly learn processes, and practices.
* Ability to coordinate work activities with a team.
* Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
* Experience in finding and resolving issues with data quality.
* Skill to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
* Ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, written and verbally.
* Ability to use independent judgment, decision making, and problem solving.
* Knowledge of records management and/or general data quality concepts.
* Experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop.
* Experience with Microsoft Excel Pivot Table.
* Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
* Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
