The Opportunity
As a Data Migration Lead, you'll be responsible for overseeing the load component of the Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data migration process within our software implementation project. You'll ensure data is accurately loaded from legacy systems to the new platform while maintaining data integrity and validation, managing any blocking issues and guiding the team to ensure the process is as efficient as possible
The Specifics
- Lead the planning and execution of data migration activities, focusing specifically on loading processes, reconciliation procedures and error reporting
- Manage the data validation frameworks to ensure accuracy of migrated data
- Use reconciliation tooling to verify numerical data consistency between source and target systems
- Collaborate with project team members business stakeholders to define data quality acceptance criteria and resolution procedures for discrepancies.
- Work with the migration team to develop runbooks for the load and reconciliation process as an input into the cutover plan
- Plan and execute load events for trial migrations, dress rehearsals and cutover
- Manage migration testing cycles and coordinate with QA teams to validate results.
- Monitor data loading performance and optimize processes for efficiency
- Report on progress, work with the team to understand and unblock any issues impacting the load process
- Work in partnership with project leadership (both within Gentrack and the Customer), project implementation partners and Gentrack senior leadership.
- Lead a team of internal migration engineers and testers, providing guidance and mentoring on migration processes, best practice and industry trends
What we're looking for (you don’t need to be a guru at all, we’re looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you)~
- 5+ years of experience in data migration roles, with proven expertise in loading strategies and reconciliation techniques
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data modelling, and database technologies
- Experience with data validation methodologies and reconciliation frameworks
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to numerical accuracy and detail
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation languages
- Experience with data migration tools and technologies
- Strong problem-solving abilities, especially under tight deadlines
- Experience in multiple software transformation projects as a Vendor
- Proven though leadership and paid consulting experience.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and drive a team to achieve deliver outcomes in a high pressure environmen
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer and internal relationships
