Are you an experienced Data Migration Engineer looking to join a team where your work genuinely makes a difference? This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major project migrating a legacy data centre to the AWS cloud platform by the end of 2025.

The project involves moving 93 individual services, including critical data from some of our key products, from an on-premise Microsoft SQL Server environment to AWS. The migration will involve a mix of lift-and-shift alongside re-engineering where required.

We’re seeking a Data Migration Engineer with strong SQL skills and a solid background in cloud-based data migrations to join our dynamic, innovative team on a day-rate contract.

What You’ll Do

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Planning, designing, and executing data migration strategies and activities

• Ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of data throughout the migration process

• Troubleshooting and resolving any technical challenges that arise during migration

• Communicating progress, issues, and solutions clearly and effectively to stakeholders

• Enabling a seamless transition from legacy systems to modern cloud-based environments

Who You’ll Be

You’ll be an experienced Data Migration Engineer, confident in migrating databases to the cloud, and comfortable working as part of a team.

Essential skills and experience:

• Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft SQL Server migration and configuration

• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration and clustering

• Experience working within AWS cloud architecture

• Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly using Terraform

• Ability to work with limited documentation and effectively conduct system discovery

• Experience delivering database migrations with minimal or no downtime
