YOUR ROLE

As a Data Governance Strategy Expert / Senior Consultant with 5+ years of experience, you will be a lead advisor to our clients, guiding them through the complexities of establishing and maturing their data governance programs. You will focus on designing strategic frameworks, defining policies and operating models, conducting maturity assessments, and aligning data governance initiatives directly with business objectives and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with senior business stakeholders, translating technical concepts into strategic imperatives and demonstrating the value of effective data governance to drive data-driven transformation and ethical data use.

YOUR TASKS

  • Lead client engagements focused on defining enterprise data governance strategies, operating models, policies, and standards (aligned with DAMA-DMBOK and industry best practices).
  • Design and implement robust data governance frameworks that address data quality, security, privacy, compliance, and ethical data use within diverse organizational structures and industries.
  • Conduct comprehensive data governance maturity assessments and develop pragmatic, actionable roadmaps for clients to advance their capabilities.
  • Define key data governance metrics and reporting mechanisms to measure program effectiveness and demonstrate business value to stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Advise clients on the strategic implications of modern data architectures (e.g., Data Mesh, Collaborative Data Ecosystems, Data Sharing) from a governance perspective.
  • Facilitate workshops and lead discussions with senior business stakeholders to gather requirements, build consensus, and drive adoption of governance policies and practices.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals, defining service offerings, and building strong client relationships.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and emerging trends in data governance, data ethics, and data sharing.
  • Mentor and coach junior consultants focusing on data governance strategy and consulting skills.

YOUR PROFILE

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on strategy, policy, and framework design within a consulting environment.
  • Deep understanding of data governance principles, methodologies (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), and their practical application in enterprise settings.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, operating models, and standards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and client relationship management skills.
  • Experience leading projects or significant workstreams in a data governance or data management context.
  • Understanding of modern data concepts (Data Mesh, Data Sharing, etc.) from a strategic and governance requirement perspective.
  • Consulting background is essential.
  • Business fluency in English. Proficiency in German or other relevant languages may be highly desirable depending on primary location/client base.
  • Willingness to travel as required for client engagements.
