Description & Requirements
The energy of a newsroom. The pace of a trading floor. The buzz of a tech startup. We thrive on solving complex challenges with smart people who are passionate about what they do. At Bloomberg, you'll work on meaningful projects with global impact, in an open and collaborative environment that values innovation, integrity, and inclusion.
What's the role?
At Bloomberg, data is the foundation of everything we do - powering the Terminal, fueling our analytics and news, and enabling our enterprise solutions across the global financial ecosystem. As data volumes, complexity, and regulatory expectations continue to grow, managing data responsibly is more critical than ever.
We are seeking a Data Governance Implementation Manager to join our growing Data Risk Management function within the Chief Risk Office (CRO). In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in implementing enterprise-wide data governance initiatives - helping to shape how we identify, assess, mitigate, and oversee data risks across Bloomberg's platforms, products, and operations.
This position is ideal for a hands-on, collaborative leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about data governance, risk management, and building scalable solutions that align with innovation and trust.
We'll trust you to:
* Lead and coordinate data risk management implementation projects, including defining requirements, timelines, dependencies, and key deliverables.
* Collaborate across cross-functional teams (Risk, Legal, Compliance, Security, Engineering, Data) to assess implementation risks and define control requirements.
* Manage stakeholder engagement through working groups, communications, and senior leadership updates.
* Monitor regulatory, legal, and privacy developments to ensure ongoing alignment of governance practices with global expectations.
* Support process and control owners in prioritizing and implementing data risk controls and oversight mechanisms.
* Drive initiatives to automate repeatable controls and streamline processes for scale.
* Track performance metrics and report on data risk management OKRs.
* Evaluate opportunities for process improvement and greater operational efficiency.
You'll Need to Have:
* 5-7 years of experience in data governance, privacy, information security, or risk management, with at least 3 years in a project or program management role.
* Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional data-related initiatives.
* Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira) and methodologies.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Background in financial services or a regulated industry with knowledge of financial instruments and trade lifecycle.
* Ability to balance strategic goals with tactical execution in a fast-paced environment.
We'd Love to See:
* Familiarity with data-related regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, BCBS 239).
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); certification a plus.
* Knowledge of model governance, third-party risk, and cloud security.
* Agile and/or Project Management certifications (e.g., SAFe, PMP).
