About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Data Functional Analyst & BI Developer to play a pivotal role in developing data solutions. This freelance position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects, translating business needs into technical solutions using the Microsoft BI stack and Azure Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and conduct interviews with business end-users to determine BI solution requirements.
• Translate business needs into logical and physical data models with appropriate documentation.
• Collaborate with the data architect to convert requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain BI solutions in accordance with established standards.
• Test analytical solutions, troubleshoot issues, and provide maintenance and technical documentation.
• Create visualizations and reports using Power BI or SSRS.
• Conduct prototype reviews and demonstrations, including data model training for business users.
• Work with the Project Leader throughout the project lifecycle to ensure proper implementation in an agile and pragmatic approach.

Technical Skills

• Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in data functional analysis and BI development using the Microsoft BI stack (including SSIS/SSAS).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in data engineering with Azure Databricks, using Python.
• Strong experience in data modeling (logical and physical).
• Proficient in designing data warehouses (Kimball dimensional modeling).
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL queries, and T-SQL.
• Proficient in Python within a data engineering context.
• Good understanding of database management systems, OLAP, and ETL frameworks.
• Experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SSRS.
• Experience in Master Data Management and Data Quality Management is a plus.
• Knowledge of modeling tools (e.g., Enterprise Architect) and Azure data analytics tools is a plus.
• Experience working in an agile project mode is a plus.

Language Proficiency

• Dutch: Active knowledge
• English: Passive knowledge
• French: Active knowledge

Other Requirements

• Commitment to work at the Brussels office at least twice a week.
• Agreement to telework within the Belgian borders.
