Job Summary:

The Data Engineering Manager serves as a key leader within the Data Excellence Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, analytics engineering, and data analysis and will possess exceptional leadership skills to effectively oversee and coordinate the activities of these functions. This position requires a strategic thinker who can drive the development, implementation, and optimization of data systems and processes, ensuring our organization remains at the forefront of data-driven decision-making.

Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future, without company sponsorship.

Must be about to work onsite in the corporate office in Indianapolis, Indiana. (This role is not hybrid or remote).

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, analytics engineers, and data analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization’s objectives and drives the use of data as a competitive advantage.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data architectures and pipelines to support robust data management, integration, and retrieval.
  • Oversee the development of analytics engineering solutions that transform raw data into actionable insights, ensuring the highest quality of analysis and reporting.
  • Direct the activities of data analysts to ensure accurate interpretation, analysis, and presentation of data to support business decisions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, product development, and business units to ensure seamless data integration and utilization.
  • Encourage continuous improvement and innovation within the data team, staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Ensure data practices comply with regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of data security and privacy.
  • Manage multiple data projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budgets, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Lead the implementation and management of data governance policies and practices to ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in data architecture, data warehousing, ETL processes, and analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Spark).
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing data teams.
  • Ability to develop and execute data strategies that drive business value.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and best practices in data engineering, analytics engineering, and data analysis.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data analysis.
