Summary

We are working with Canopy Labs to hire a Data Engineer to help build infrastructure that supports high-performance AI systems powering ultra-realistic digital humans. You can learn more about Canopy Labs here.

About the Mission

Canopy Labs is building digital humans that can move, speak, and interact like real people. Their platform enables:

  • Real-time, ultra-realistic multimodal video interactions
  • Intelligent embodiment: gesturing, writing, clapping, navigating environments
  • Spatial awareness and scene interaction

Their mission is to bring virtual humans to life through cutting-edge generative models, enabling natural, embodied AI interactions at scale. The team works quickly, thinks deeply, and builds ambitiously at the frontier of AI and infrastructure.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to design and scale systems that power Canopy’s ML workloads. You’ll work closely with ML researchers and engineers to build robust, high-performance infrastructure for training and deploying advanced models. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex systems problems and enabling world-class AI development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable services for AI model training and inference
  • Build and optimize data pipelines for large-scale machine learning systems
  • Improve system reliability, monitoring, and observability
  • Collaborate with ML engineers to streamline model deployment workflows
  • Contribute to internal tools and infrastructure frameworks

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Python and at least one compiled language (Go, C++, or Rust)
  • Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with ML frameworks and model-serving infrastructure
  • Familiarity with GPU programming and optimization techniques
  • Background in high-performance computing environments
  • Contributions to open-source infrastructure or dev tools

We’re especially interested in engineers who thrive at the intersection of infrastructure, performance, and scale, and who are excited to support the next generation of embodied AI systems.

We're looking forward to hearing from you soon!
