Data Engineer – Guadalajara

HeyDonto is hiring a Data Engineer to join our growing team in Guadalajara. We're building out a local team as we establish our presence in the area, and this role is a key part of that growth. You’ll work on projects at the intersection of healthcare data, AI, and interoperability, helping build systems that power real-time EHR integration, FHIR standardization, and large language model–driven insights.

Key Responsibilities

Data Mapper Development

• Standardize and transform data from diverse EHR systems into a unified FHIR-based format
• Map, normalize, and validate incoming data streams for consistency and completeness
• Consume and process Kafka events from the Data Writer module
• Segment data for warehousing and AI model training, applying specific preprocessing for each use case
• Implement robust error handling with detailed logging for audit and troubleshooting

Knowledge Graphs and LLM Integration

• Ingest and structure data from EHRs, research articles, and clinical notes using LLMs
• Ensure semantic consistency and interoperability during ingestion
• Build knowledge graphs to represent relationships and support semantic data integration
• Enable contextual querying and advanced predictive modeling using KGs and LLMs
• Maintain an active feedback loop to continuously update graphs with new insights

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with data scientists, AI specialists, and engineers to design and implement scalable solutions
• Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders to align on priorities and technical goals
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, and collaboration

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role in healthcare or a complex data environment
• Familiarity with FHIR standards and mapping diverse data structures to FHIR resources
• Experience with Kafka or similar platforms for streaming data integration
• Experience with knowledge graphs and LLMs, especially in healthcare contexts

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Python and relevant data engineering libraries
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j or RDF-based systems
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks is a plus
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
