Data Engineer

Position Overview:

You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing accurate, consistent, and secure data sets that support key business processes and decisions. Leveraging your strong knowledge of traditional data warehousing, data structures, and tools, you organize data into optimal structures that are flexible to cross-functional and cross-process needs. Through collaboration with colleagues, you will develop and maintain a business-driven data pipeline optimized to business needs and transition the pipeline to IT when appropriate. Your understanding of data systems and business processes will aid in defining and delivering innovative data integration solutions. You will continuously improve data and drive business processes, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and problem-solving mentality. Supporting functional and analytics users by simplifying queries from multiple data sources, identifying optimal ways to prepare and navigate datasets, and implementing data quality control will be part of your responsibilities. You will adapt to changing tools, technologies, and data environments, delivering collaboratively built cross-functional insights. Providing technical leadership in a small team format, you will understand, design, and deliver a maintainable data pipeline. Using business acumen and functional stakeholder input, you will understand data needed for process enablement, locate the needed data, and translate it to the right granularity. You will drive the common understanding of key performance indicators and metrics needed to make business-critical decisions and drive business results. Building strong relationships across leaders, IT Data Stewards, Data Support team, Data Governance, and Crop Science will be essential.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement accurate, consistent, and secure data sets supporting key business processes and decisions;
  • Leverage strong knowledge of traditional data warehousing, data structures, and tools;
  • Organize data into optimal data structures flexible to cross-functional and cross-process data needs;
  • Develop and maintain a business-driven data pipeline optimized to business needs, transitioning pipeline to IT when appropriate;
  • Deliver innovative data integration solutions, continuously improving data and driving business processes;
  • Simplify multiple data sources queries, implement data quality control, and communicate data issues or gaps;
  • Provide technical leadership in a small team format to design and deliver a maintainable data pipeline;
  • Drive the common understanding of key performance indicators and metrics for business-critical decisions;
  • Build strong relationships across leaders, IT Data Stewards, Data Support team, Data Governance, and Crop Science.

WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Business knowledge in industrial automation data, Manufacturing Information Systems (MIS), and production field data processes;
  • Specific knowledge of Data Historian and Denodo/Data Virtualization;
  • Domain knowledge in data process automation, scheduling, and data architecture using SQL, Python, R, SAS, or other common languages;
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills, persuasiveness, and ability to communicate complex analytical approaches to all levels of business leadership;
  • Demonstrated innovative solutions and self-lead discoveries of new technologies;
  • History of meeting tight deadlines and providing accurate estimates of time required to complete complex tasks.

Preferred Qualifications"

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Manufacturing – Field, Facility, or related field;

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $134,439.14 - $201,658.72 Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
