This role works with the Data Integration team to establish, transform, and normalize data flows between the PPS Analytics cloud-hosted environment and our various medical practice clients. It is a software- and data analytics-oriented position which requires strong knowledge of the Microsoft software development stack.

This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of the PPS Analytics Care Path Agent, an in-house C# application developed to integrate into various Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) systems. Integration technologies include Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Oracle SQL, web services, and flat-files (e.g. CSV). The application is often installed within the practice’s environment on a hosted machine, which requires additional knowledge of basic infrastructure such as using Virtual Private Network (VPN) clients and remote screen technologies.

The Software Engineer will report to the Manager of Data Integration.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and maintain the PPS Analytics Care Path Agent, an in-house C# application
• Develop and maintain data transformation and ETL procedures using Microsoft SQL
• Write queries and scripts to extract mapped data
• When presented with a new EMR/PM platform, investigate and map database or other repositories to determine where data points may be found
• Work with medical practices to coordinate and install the Care Path Agent into their environment
• Identify operational issues and defects that cause data flow to be interrupted or impacted
• Learn to navigate several EMR and PM systems for data validation
• Serve as third-level support for service desk to troubleshoot clinical and technical issues
• Interact with clinical personnel such as nurse navigators to understand where data resides in patient charts, and map to the PPS Analytics data model
  
  

Who You Are:

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and 5 years of work experience designing, programming, and supporting data integration
• Instead of the above, a high school diploma or GED or higher, and:
• The completion of a technical training program, and 5 years related work experience, or
• 7 years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting data processing
• The completion of a technical training program, and 5 years related work experience, or
• 7 years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting data processing
  
  

Skills / Abilities

• A deep knowledge of and experience with C# development on the .NET framework, including class inheritance, dependency injection, and ADO.NET
• Ability to write moderate Microsoft SQL queries to support an ETL process, daily development, and troubleshooting/issue resolution
• Basic familiarity with infrastructure technologies such as VPN and remote screens
• Ability to track product implementation on a practice-by-practice basis, and shepherd along integration and adoption
• Ability to explore an unknown SQL database to discover and map various data points
• Adapt to speaking both clinically and technically
• Present final work product of platform integration back to stakeholders
