About the role


We're current recruiting a Data Centre & Cloud Manager to join our European IT Operations team based in Birmingham UK (hybrid working). The role is responsible for monitoring and managing the smooth delivery and operations of all vendors and services provided by the Data Centre & Cloud team to our businesses, supporting 33,000 users across 20 countries. This role involves overseeing the deployment and maintenance of new infrastructure, ensuring security and compliance, and optimising performance and cost-efficiency. The Data Centre & Cloud Manager plays a critical role in improving the reliability and resiliency of data centre and cloud services, reducing the number of incidents, and enhancing vendor relations.

This is a management level position that requires strong technical knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a team and processes effectively.


Main responsibilities


In this role you'll:


  • Monitor and manage the smooth delivery and operations of all vendors and services provided by the Data Centre & Cloud team.
  • Act as the leadership and point of escalation for the Data Centre & Cloud team.
  • Oversee the deployment and maintenance of data centre and cloud infrastructure, ensuring it meets business needs.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of data centre and cloud services, adhering to industry standards and regulations such as NIST.
  • Optimise the performance and cost-efficiency of data centre and cloud services.
  • Improve the reliability and resiliency of data centre and cloud services, reducing the number of P1/2 incidents.
  • Foster improved vendor relations, ensuring effective collaboration and service delivery.
  • Manage cloud environments, ensuring they are secure, compliant, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaborate with IT Leadership and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for data centre and cloud initiatives.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in data centre and cloud, incorporating relevant advancements into the organisation’s strategy.

  • An in-depth knowledge of Data Centre & Cloud concepts, tools, infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Experience with multiple Cloud software products, platforms and vendors.
  • Developed vendor management skills, with experience managing third-party relationships.
  • Excellent professional accreditations / certifications such as ITIL, Azure, AWS, Google etc.
  • A second European Language (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with people at all levels across the organisation.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Effective negotiation skills to be able to facilitate collaboration with internal stakeholders, vendors and MSPs.
  • The ability to translate business requirements into viable technical solutions.
  • Developed stakeholder management skills (all directions).
  • The ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
