Position Summary

The Data Analyst Associate (8 months contract) will support HomeEquity Bank’s analytics capabilities, including the creation and dissemination of reports and analyses. The Data Analyst Associate will assist in the development of our centralized analytics platform Looker. The role provides the opportunity to work with a wide range of technical leaders across all departments at the bank and has extensive training and development opportunities.

Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics, the Data Analyst Associate will partner with Analytics, Sales, Operations, Finance, Marketing and various other departments to improve their ability to make data-driven decisions. The role will support several data-related initiatives to ensure high data quality, research sales opportunities and bridge information gaps.

MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE

The Data Analyst Associate will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of the Bank’s ongoing reporting analysis, and to support corporate initiatives, business opportunities and other special projects. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to the preparation of analytical reports, including requirements gathering, data pre-processing, data mining, and visualization
  • Supporting the continued roll-out and maintenance of data tests across the bank’s data model
  • Developing unit tests across the bank’s centralized analytics system and monitor data structure changes in the bank’s proprietary core databases
  • Developing and maintaining documentation related but not limited to the team’s data pipelines, analysis workflows, intake processes, and code development processes
  • Assisting with the automation of new data pipelines developed using both SQL and Python for the purpose of report generation and decision making
  • Assisting the team’s Data Science Associate in the development of predictive models by wrangling large training large datasets, and evaluating their efficacy for modelling tasks

Skills And Experience Required

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree in a quantitative field such as Business Administration (Finance/Accounting), Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Physics
  • Familiarity with database concepts and cloud computing
  • Related work experience in an analytics role
  • Understanding of data analysis methods such as regression, forecasting, data modeling
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and communication skills
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx required
  • Experience with Cloud Data Platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS), Python, SQL, VBA an asset
  • Team player and motivated by shared success.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to a wide range of audiences
