Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Data Analyst is to improve operations by analyzing business requirements, building a deep understanding of user needs, and designing and implementing efficient and effective systems to collect, analyze, and report on agency data. The Data Analyst facilitates cross-departmental communication and collaboration by working closely with direct service programs, technical teams, and administrative departments to achieve shared objectives and ensure agency compliance with relevant regulatory and contractual requirements.

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Three years of relevant experience as an analyst, utilizing EHR systems.
  • Familiarity with EHR system setup, functions, report writing, and forms setup.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A valid California driver’s license is required for staff who have regular driving duties, and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency’s insurance company.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for streamlining workflows and enhancing operational efficiencies. Develop and implement effective, user-friendly, and automated workflows to optimize the delivery of services and collection of data.
  • Create detailed project plans, system specifications, and workflows for proposed solutions. Ensure that these solutions align with industry best practices, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Lead and coordinate projects related to system implementations, process changes, and data integration initiatives.
  • Coordinating regular quality assurance audits is a key responsibility. This involves evaluating various stages of processes, and final outputs to ensure they meet predefined quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Developing, reviewing, and updating quality standards is critical. A Data Analyst works to establish clear benchmarks for quality that are aligned with customer/employee expectations and industry norms.
  • Conduct detailed statistical analysis to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement in service and process quality.
  • Work closely with other departments and the Finance Team to analyze information, resolve billing issues, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ability to participate in a team setting and provide support by managing multiple, and often simultaneous tasks, and contribute to a work environment that is recognized for a high level of ethical integrity, quality of work, timeliness, cost-effectiveness, accuracy, and results.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper coding and processing of incoming Explanation of Benefits and Remittance Advice from payers.
  • Provide expertise in EHR systems (SmartCare).
  • Ability to work with staff to troubleshoot issues within the EHR system and provide resolutions and training.
  • Manage all stages of the revenue cycle, including claim creation, denial management, and payment position, to ensure maximum reimbursement.
  • Monitor claim progression daily, manage reports, and submit monthly updates on billing activities to the Director.
  • Research and stay up to date with relevant technology solutions, laws, regulations, and guidelines in the behavioral health industry.
