Summary

Position Summary

The Reporting Analyst currently serves under the direction of an Analytics and Reporting Lead. They are the data specialists who contribute to organizational improvement by gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports, and introducing process improvements throughout the reporting process. They have excellent analytical and technical skills, in addition to a keen ability to determine specifications and standards for business reporting and maintaining data integrity. Reporting Analyst key responsibilities involve data extraction & maintenance, analysis and transformation. The Reporting Analyst must be a compelling Data Storyteller. Data storytelling is a structured approach for communicating data insights, and it involves a combination of three key elements: data, visuals, and narrative. Weekly Reports must contain Prescriptive Actions that the Operation Team can implement to help drive improvement in operation performance


Job Responsibilities

  • Reporting analysts gather and maintain various data-related business processes and reporting. This involves both entering information into existing databases and creating new processes and programs to accurately input and store critical data.
  • They also work with data structures and metadata to ensure consistency, security, and accessibility. Reporting Analysts take an active role in data analysis and interpretation. They assemble, analyze, and evaluate internal operational data, demonstrating ability to determine trends.
  • Includes the comparison of data across different sources and definitions. Reporting analysts frequently need to exercise sound judgment while analyzing and interpreting data to ensure a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness for business leaders. Prepare necessary data, documents and reports needed for upper management and executives, on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
  • Reports can be created in any TELUS allowed tools like Google Suite, Excel or Sisense. Reporting analysts frequently need to exercise sound judgment while analyzing and interpreting data to ensure a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness for business leaders.
  • Reporting analysts frequently work across business lines, conferring with managers and executives to gather requirements and specifications while developing enhanced data and reporting tools.
  • They work directly with team leaders to gain a better sense of the current shortcomings in reporting technology and devise solutions to enhance reporting and data management.
  • To ensure data accuracy and efficiency, the reporting analyst conducts routine audits of data sources or storage, conducting many tests and analyzing the results before devising new solutions or finding ways to enhance data management solutions. Other tasks deemed necessary for the role.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent Verbal, Written and Presentation Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving experience
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, time management, prioritization and coordination skills
  • Ability to self initiate follow up, work independently and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and foster ownership, innovation and collaboration within a team.


Studies & Experience:

  • Preferably sophomore level in Systems Engineering, business administration, economics or related careers - Desirable
  • 2+ years in a role with significant reporting and analysis experience - Desirable
  • Experience with databases (SQL, Google Script, Phyton) - Desirable
