Title: Cybersecurity Instructor - Full Time Teaching Faculty Agency: Central Virginia Community College Location: Lynchburg - 680 FLSA: Exempt Hiring Range: Rank and salary depend on degree(s) held, related work and teaching experience. Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Additional Detail Job Description: Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs. Central Virginia Community College is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Information Systems Technology teaching faculty in the Professional and Career Studies Division. This position will provide excellent instruction in cyber security and other IT related courses by designing and implementing effective teaching and learning practices. Faculty loads require a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester and ten (10) student engagement hours. Maintain records of student performance. Prepare and/or assist in the development of course materials including course syllabi, online material, textbook selections, course objectives, and assessment instruments. Participate in scheduled in-service activities. Teaching assignments may include a variety of modes including on-campus, Zoom, Hyflex, and, asynchronous. Maintain professional competencies. Work professionally with other faculty across campus. Based upon the needs of the College, teaching assignments may also include day and/or evening classes at multiple on-and-off campus locations, to include dual enrollment courses in high school settings. Faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom, laboratory, and online environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Minimum Qualifications: * Qualified to teach information systems technology courses with emphasis in Microsoft Office 365 Advanced. * Experience teaching in or working in the IT field including basic applications, networking and programming. * Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Cyber Security, Information Technology or similar field * Ability to teach a range of cybersecurity courses including network security, ethical hacking risk management, and security operations. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * ·Strong interpersonal and organizational skills * Willingness to travel to offsite locations to teach classes. * Ability to teach dual enrollment and adult students. * Employees must be able to work strategically with colleagues, students, and community members with a commitment to learning outcomes, cultural respect, professional competence, and civic responsibility. Additional Considerations: * Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or similar. * Teaching experience including high school and adult students. * Community college and/or academic teaching experience * Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems * Experience with current cybersecurity tools, virtual labs, practical lab applications and simulation environments. * Experience in SQL databases, webpage design with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, C# coding and design.
