Reederei NORD B.V. in Amsterdam is seeking a proactive and solutions-driven Cyber Security & Infrastructure Engineer to enhance our IT infrastructure and cyber security capabilities both onshore and across our global fleet. As a key member of our international IT team, you will work alongside experienced professionals, including the IT Director, Fleet Support Engineers, and IT Systems Administrator. Together, you will ensure the seamless operation of IT systems across our fleet. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact while working with advanced technologies such as Fortinet network equipment, Dell/HP servers, and satellite systems from brands like JRC, Sailor, Furuno, and Intellian.

What You Will Do

As part of our experienced, collaborative IT team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and efficiency of our IT systems:

Cyber Security (Shore and Fleet):

• Shape and enforce IT policies and procedures promoting collaboration across our teams ashore (35 persons) and afloat (hundreds of persons).
• Strengthen network security with tools like firewalls, VPNs, and endpoint protection.
• Conduct risk assessments, provide awareness training, and lead incident investigations.
• Review and optimize networks to align with evolving cyber security standards.

Infrastructure:

Fleet:

• Initiate and lead exciting IT projects to improve infrastructure and cyber security.
• Maintain and expand in-house cyber security solutions for the fleet.
• Provide remote and occasional on-site support for IT systems on board vessels.
• Maintain the IT equipment of ships mainly remotely and occasionally also on-site including routine installations, configurations, upgrades, antivirus protection, backups, and email operation.

Shore:

• Enhance office networks.
• Learn about and implement the latest trends.
• Support the IT Administrator in maintaining the office network and virtualization platform.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for an inquisitive professional eager to make a difference. You should have:

• Advanced knowledge of network security.
• Knowledge of and experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, Ethernet, , LAN / WAN / SDWAN, Firewalls, Routers, Backup systems, Windows operating systems, AD, Mail-server, DNS, and DHCP.
• Excellent problem-solving, time-management, and communication skills.
• A collaborative mindset and passion for continuous learning.
• Having worked in the maritime industry and having experience with Fortinet equipment, satellite communications, virtualization platforms, Python, Linux, and VoIP would be a strong advantage.
