Working in a collaborative and engaging environment, you will have the chance to interact with people over the telephone. You will also process a variety of motor vehicle transactions. The Customer Services Division of the Utah State Tax Commission in the Motor Vehicle Contact Center (MVCC) is currently looking for a skilled and motivated individual person to fill its Customer Service Representative position. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a FBI level background check.

Principle Duties

Requirements

The Motor Vehicle Contact Centeris looking for a Customer Service Representative to assist customers over the telephone with questions and requirements. This person will assist the customers:

  • Over the telephone by
    • Explaining rules and regulations in regards to the Motor Vehicle Division
    • Following policy and procedures in regards to the Motor Vehicle Division
    • Guiding and assisting customers in completing motor vehicle transactions
  • Using the Motor Vehicle system by
    • Retrieving customer information from the motor vehicle database
    • Processing motor vehicle title and registration transactions
    • Processing/collecting fees for all motor vehicle processes
    • Processing various transactions, such as address changes, canceling vehicle registrations, etc.

    • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
    • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
    • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Paid Time Off:
    • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
    • Annual leave increases with years of service.
    • There are also 12 paid holidays.
The Agency

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a division of the Utah State Tax Commission. The primary duty of the DMV is to issue title and registration for Utah vehicles, including passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, motor homes, off-highway vehicles, boats, and snowmobiles. Salary

Non-state employees are hired for this position at $18.73 an hour. We are unable to negotiate hourly wage amounts. DHRM rules apply for promotions/transfers for current state employees.

Working Conditions

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

Other Requirements

  • Personal tax filings and vehicle registrations must be current and complete.
  • You will be required to pass an FBI-level background check
  • For transfers or promotions, DHRM Rules apply
