Summary

The College of Pharmacy is seeking a Curriculum Manager. This individual will lead and manage activities related to development, delivery, assessment, and quality assurance for the PharmD curriculum. Provide expertise to faculty stakeholders with course development, review, approval, and implementation, with the goal of enhancing student educational experiences and ensuring student success. Guide and implement the work of the PharmD Curriculum Committee (and other committees as assigned) and provide recommendations to the Associate Dean regarding pertinent committee charges and initiatives. Create policies, procedures, and processes and audit compliance to maintain collegiate and university adherence to all pertinent accreditation standards. Collaborate with all members of the Office of Professional Education (OPE) and other collegiate units to deliver quality services to faculty and students. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

The faculty and staff of the Office of Professional Education (OPE) manage all aspects of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The OPE has a co-leadership model led by the associate dean of academic affairs (ADAA) and the associate dean of student affairs (ADSA). The office includes eight professional staff members (director of admissions, director of student success, assessment and accreditation manager, curriculum manager, admissions counselor, academic advisor, instructional services specialist, and administrative coordinator). There is significant interplay between academic and student affairs staff, and the office’s structure allows for meaningful collaboration to ensure support of all faculty and students.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Enhance and Support Student Educational Experiences and Increase Retention. Foster a Sense of Community and Engagement for Students.

  • Serve as the primary collegiate registrar. This requires individuals to develop, manage, and adjust the PharmD class and exam schedule each semester to optimize PharmD educational delivery and optimize student success and well-being. Ensure creation of course offerings and schedule for timely student registration and communication with faculty.
  • Communicate and coordinate curriculum and schedule modifications with related stakeholders and ensure the university course catalog and student handbook are current.
  • Manage logistics related to PharmD curriculum delivery including collection of and processing of key information, data entry, and reservation/scheduling of classrooms in CPB and other buildings using proprietary and university databases (e.g., MAUI, Ad Astra, and Outlook).
  • Coordinate a broad range of programs and services that support the educational experience and retention of current students. Identify and prioritize goals and objectives, create timelines, and build action plans to accomplish programmatic initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the course and certificate approval process. Review and execute policy and process revisions for new courses, course modifications, and course retirements.


Establish and Maintain Relationships with Partners to Provide Educational Support Services. Partners Include On-campus Units and External Agencies (Local, State, National, and International).

  • Consult with other internal and external professional schools for content and assessment data pertaining to Interprofessional Education.
  • Liaise with Provost’s office and other campus academic programs to provide guidance and faculty support for academic certificates and dual degree programs (e.g., MPH, MHSI, certificates).
  • Collaborate with and support collegiate stakeholders to ensure curricular development aligns with the direction of the faculty, the collegiate strategic plan, and ACPE.
  • Create and maintain materials and educate others regarding processes and procedures to assist all stakeholders (faculty, staff, and students) in fulfilling responsibilities related to the PharmD program using a variety of media (e.g. video, web, and written instructions for student compliances, teaching, collegiate course syllabi database, ICON, intranet, accreditation responsibilities, etc.).
  • Manage and guide initiatives related to Curriculum Committee business, provide operational support to the committee, and provide recommendations to Associate Dean for Academic Affairs regarding committee charges based on relevant curriculum-based assessment data. Manage SharePoint, Teams Site, or other shared collaboration platforms, create best practices for information sharing and document retrieval, and design dashboards; manage committee member communications and outcomes.


Administrative (HR, Budget), Supervision and Training.

  • May manage unit budget and TDR’s.
  • Provide training to faculty or staff related to relevant curriculum or assessment-related systems.
  • May provide supervision to student employees.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in programs such as business, education, or equivalency. Equivalency is defined as a combination of education and experience equating to 4 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in program operations and optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce highly accurate results while meeting timelines.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook).
  • Ability to deliver oral and written communication in a manner that is understandable to the target audience.
  • Ability to use multi-media platforms to connect with target populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace and capitalize on unique characteristics of individuals to achieve positive outcomes.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education in a curriculum management or quality improvement role.
