The Cultural Programming Manager is a key leadership position within the City of Pompano Beach's Cultural Affairs Department. The manager is responsible for planning, facilitating, and booking both performing arts and community-based programming. The venues to be programmed include the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, Ali Cultural Arts Center, Bailey Contemporary Arts Center, a new black box theater opening at Ali Cultural Arts in Fall 2025, and other cultural venues and public spaces as assigned. Work is performed under administrative direction from the Cultural Affairs Director. The Cultural Program manager oversees the planning and execution of a dynamic, year-round performing arts calendar, including managing staff to ensure the highest-quality performances. Programming currently includes but is not limited to music, theater, comedy, film, spoken word & poetry, and heritage and humanities programming. Short- and long-term programming possibilities include recommendations from the 2021 Pompano Beach Arts Cultural Arts Master Plan (2021-2026). Key responsibilities include implementing programs that position Pompano Beach as a premier cultural destination, supporting long- and short-term strategic planning, and assisting in creating signature events and festivals to attract broader audiences and enhance tourism. The role involves managing staff, coordinating event logistics, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining budgets and performance evaluations. Additionally, the manager collaborates closely with marketing teams to expand audience reach and promote cultural initiatives while also partnering with local organizations, corporate entities, and nonprofits to drive cultural growth. The position includes oversight of capital and operational improvements in cultural facilities and requires regular reporting on program performance and financials. Performs related work as required.
* Extensive and progressively responsible experience in cultural affairs programming with a demonstrated history of leadership and successful program execution.
* Proven track record in both short-term and long-term strategic cultural planning.
* A bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred but not required.
Experience and Knowledge
* Demonstrated success in designing and managing diverse cultural programming calendars, including fine arts, entertainment, and community-based events.
* Experience creating high-impact signature events such as festivals, performance series, and one-off programs with measurable success metrics.
* In-depth knowledge of the cultural and fine arts ecosystem within Broward County, the state of Florida, and the wider region, including relationships with booking agents, production companies, and other event professionals.
* Strong background in event logistics, including booking talent, managing staff and vendors, permitting processes, and overseeing outdoor festivals and performances.
* Familiarity with technical production elements such as lighting, sound, and staging required for delivering high-quality performances.

* Proficient in data analysis and program evaluation, with the ability to make evidence-based recommendations.
* Capable of mentoring and supporting staff in developing grant proposals, press materials, and promotional content.
* Adept in using office equipment and performing moderate physical activities associated with event management.
* Committed to ethical conduct and upholding integrity in all public service responsibilities.
