Job Overview
Teknova seeks an experienced individual to lead our creative marketing team as a Creative Director, Content Studio. This integrated, leadership position will help drive differentiation, consideration and growth for the company’s brand and products by shaping and ensuring a consistent creative expression of our brand across all marketing touchpoints, leading the conceptual development and production of creative initiatives and projects for both internal and external audiences, and partnering with subject matter experts, and other key cross-functional teams to seamlessly position Teknova as a leader in the life sciences reagents category. The ideal candidate requires extensive experience in leading the strategic development and tactical execution of through-the-line marketing content (e.g. copywriting, content creation, art/design direction for paid, owned and earned channels) that is high-quality, relevant, and engaging across the entire customer journey.
This role will report to the SVP, Marketing, and is based out of Hollister, CA, or remote (with regular travel on-site to our Hollister headquarters).

Requirements
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development of Teknova’s brand and creative strategy, with a primary focus on marketing content, to position the brand as a differentiated leader in the reagents space
- Define one consolidated content vision and roadmap (marketing creative + scientific content), ensuring all narratives align to company goals and objectives
- Develop actionable plans and processes for prioritization, cross-functional alignment, creative ideation and development, management and governance, and impact measurement
- Partner with Marketing team members and/or external agency partners to develop integrated, effective amplification and promotional strategies for telling Teknova stories across key paid/owned/earned marketing channels (e.g., events, web, email, social, search, display/online, distributors, PR), supporting the entire customer journey
- Develop strong, seamless, and collaborative cross-functional relationships across the broader Teknova organization to create end-to-end stories and materials that represent the brand and grow our business
- Assume the role of “simplifier” who sees a path forward through complicated ideas and conflicting opinions, and who can communicate this path internally and externally with clarity, conviction, and purpose
- Manage creative and content development guidelines (e.g., brand usage and style guides)
- As available, build and manage a team of full-time or freelance marketing copywriters, art directors, designers, providing day-to-day guidance and support to enable the development of high-quality, impactful marketing creative that is on time, on budget, and on strategy
EDUCATION
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
- 15+ years experience in brand and creative strategy, development and execution, ideally both agency and client-side
- Excellent creative prowess to identify and develop compelling narratives and storylines and extend them across different audiences, channels, and stages in the customer journey
- Highly skilled at identifying great creative from good creative, and able to constructively share feedback to drive improvement
- Ability to plan and engage at both strategic and executional levels, including resource management and project management
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact and work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
- Strong understanding of key marketing channel best practices, and experience developing integrated content campaigns and programs that maximize the potential of each (e.g., web, social, digital, SEM/SEO, CRM)
- Experience working cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Product, HR, and/or Customer Service organizations
- Previous experience managing creative teams, including third-party agencies/vendors
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, with a positive attitude and ability to seamlessly navigate change to drive consensus
- Go-getter attitude that is ready to jump in and take action, thriving in fast-paced environments managing across multiple shifting priorities
- Excellent attention to detail, and outstanding verbal/written/presentation communication skills
Salary Description
